Local author's TV drama about the life of steel pioneer Robert Forester Mushet in development

A NEW historical TV drama exploring the key role the Forest of Dean played in Britain’s Industrial Revolution is being developed by award-winning filmmakers.

Midlands-based production company Checklist Films is adapting a novel by local author Keith Thomas, ‘The Iron Rose’, for the small screen, with much of it set to be filmed here in the Forest.

Nick Arthur's joins Checklist Films' The Iron Rose

West Midlands based production company Checklist Films has confirmed that Nick Arthurs, BAFTA awarded Film and TV Editor with credits including ‘The Witcher’, ‘A Discovery of Witches’ and ‘The Alienist’, is attached as a Development Producer to help them craft their newly announced six-part drama, ‘The Iron Rose‘, which chronicles the dramatic lives of the Mushet family during Britain’s Industrial Revolution, into a multi-episode television series.

New TV drama seeks Black Country talent

Acting and production talent from the Black Country is being sought for a new historical drama series.

Birmingham-based film and television production company Checklist Films is behind The Iron Rose.

The Victorian drama is inspired by the true story of iron and steel pioneer Robert Forester Mushet from the Forest of Dean.

On and off-screen talent is being recruited from the region for the production.

West Midlands prodco develops Industrial Revolution Saga

Birmingham-based production company Checklist Films is developing historical saga The Iron Rose as a returning drama series.

Keith Thomas’ yet-to-be-published book centres on the true story of innovative iron and steel pioneer Robert Forester Mushet during the Industrial Revolution.

Created by Thomas, the Victorian family saga will be delivered as 6 x 60’ episodes, with scripts by John F McDonald.
